I wrote a few articles and editorials for an Online Magazine earlier this year covering some cool topics and events in TO.  Being a busy lady my schedule didn’t allow for a new gig like this for long.  I did, however, write a few articles before realizing this and they are interesting, Check them out! http://www.freshprintmagazine.com/author/joanna/

The true meaning of glowing shines through in my maternity photographs taken of my client T around 6 months in her pregnancy.  This beautiful woman is just as gorgeous on the inside.  T is the definition of what it means to be a wonderful mother.  Her son Liam (below), has recently turned five months old and like his parents is a HUGE San Francisco 49ers fan :)

About two years ago Mark and Alexis came to me and asked if I could photograph their engagement photos in Algonquin Park, their favourite place.  This amazing, day long, portage photoshoot captured the best of the sites of fall on Canoe Lake and of course, captured the happiness of two wonderful people who are deeply in love!

In September 2012 I did the walk for the Weekend to End Women’s Cancer’s benefitting Princess Margaret Hospital.  To be honest the morning of I almost bailed. I woke up to go at 6am to see it was pouring rain and I had the sinking feeling of fear in my gut knowing I wasn’t quite in shape to conquer walking 32 km across Toronto.  I did get out of bed that morning however.  I was inspired by my friend who was bravely fighting to beat cancer at Princess Margaret at the time.  I knew I had to and that I wanted to go try to make it as far as I could go in the marathon for her.
I ended up making it through the whole walk!  It was one of the most memorable days of my life.  Trudging through the puddles dressed in ponchos and ripped bags to protect my wet feet I met tons of new friends and was motivated by everyone to make to the end.  I feel that day I gained a life experience that could never be bought.  AND the best part?  My friend is in remission now and thanks to the generous donations of friends, family and clients who believed more than I did that I could do it I raised $1700 for Princess Margaret Hospital!
One day I hope to do another marathon - and maybe next time there’ll be better weather, although I think the added obstacle made my success that much sweeter ;)

I feel lucky to work with the extremely talented designer Adrienne Butikofer. She is a fantastic woman and I LOVE collaborating and shooting for her. I have shot many creative fashion/catalog shoots for Skinny Sweats.  It’s great to know Age thinks so highly of my work too :)  http://butikofer.com/blog/2012/08/22/fab-com-sale/

Skinny Sweats is an amazing brand - Adrienne creates clothing that no girls closet should be without.  Hedding back in time here’s a sneak peak of the shoot we did for the Skinny Sweats SS13 Collection.   The amazing Christina Spina was the MUA for this shoot and beautiful Andrea was our model. It was a great day!

You may have seen these gluten-free UBE Livin’ Smart muffins at your local grocery store.  I work as their photographer and food stylist for their food and products.   For this muffin shoot done in 2012 I had help from my partner in crime Dan who was workin’ it as my art director.  He also made their awesome website.

On this cold January day I’m taken back to one of my favourite moments of the summer.  On July 1st, 2013 I was hired to photograph the 1st Q107 Canada Day Picnic held at Woodbine Park.  As pre-usual It was an amazing day working with my summer festival crew - it was the third festival of “our tour” together across Ontario as my boss Lido likes to say.  It was a day filled with good vibes, great bands and good company.  Just as I thought the day couldn’t get better, the sun went down and out came Floyd Factor.  If you haven’t seen Floyd Factor they are hands down the best Pink Floyd cover band in existence.  My favourite part of their set?  They opened with a synchronized firework show to “The Great Gig in the Sky”.

Can’t wait to see what’ll happen this year - I know I’ll be working there again as it’s already booked!  Save the date for this great summer party - July 1st, 2014 at Woodbine Park!

Tonight for dinner I made a delicious, hearty soup based with a product from one of my photography clients GiGi Importing.  It is a spelt, lentil, power green iron enriched healthy masterpiece.  Perfect for this “polar vortex” ridiculous weather.  Tastes as good as it looks - be sure to give it a try:

Fry up 1 onion in olive oil, season with salt and pepper
add 1 cup white wine, boil off the alcohol (stirring on high 10 min)
add 2 cups beef broth and 2 cups water
add 1 package Farrotto Spelt Soup Porcini Mushroom (GiGi Importing)
add 1 Package Power Greens (Kale, Baby Spinach and Chard)
Bring to Boil, cover and lower heat simmer and cook 18 MIN
add 1 cup cooked green lentils when it’s done
Garnish with Fresh Parsley, Butter and Parmigiano

Delicious!
